Teaching for International Schools
November 18th, 2007Like any other career overseas, teaching for international schools also adds value to your future resume. The pleasure of travelling abroad, foreign living and spending time with children from a different country is a bonus that comes with this job. No wonder a lot of teachers are now interested in international assignments and looking for a teaching career abroad. Once you complete a contract with a school you can either prefer to continue at the same school or try other international schools around the world. You may choose the second option if you feel bored with the current school or if you want to take your career forward.
If you are really serious about a teaching career abroad you need to learn to choose which interviews you should attend and which are the right schools for you.
Once you have taken the decision to seek an international teaching career its time for your preliminary research to find out which locations, and countries are most suitable for you. Factors like Your expected salary, your ability to adapt to a different climate and living conditions, and the size of the organization you want to be in etc should be taken in to consideration before taking a decision. Your preliminary research should answer the questions on your mind and should help you to take the right decision depending upon the results you gather from the research.
Once you have finished you initial research you need to look for interview opportunities which fits your requirements. Measure yourself before going for an interview as trying for a position for which you are unqualified can be a waste of your time and also of the person who is interviewing you.
There are different ways to get interviews some of them are Recruitment fairs, contacting an organization directly, job websites etc.
You should choose the one which suits you best and then carry your attempts forward from there.
